Anxiety, may be related to stress, exhaustion, lack of sleep, physical inactivity, poor or irregular eating habits, the misuse of medications, intoxicating substances, caffeine, cigarettes, or alcohol, as well as an unfulfilling romantic or sexual life, or even physiological causes.
It may also be associated with other psychological conditions such as depression, panic attacks, phobias, and various fears, which can manifest through symptoms like rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath, a feeling of suffocation, muscle tension, sweating, restlessness, and intrusive thoughts about all sorts of catastrophic scenarios.
When anxiety stems from poor discipline and unhealthy habits, it’s important not only to work on reorganizing one’s daily routine, but also — and more importantly — to explore the motivation behind improving quality of life, or rather, the lack of such motivation. Behind this kind of apathetic and inert mindset, there may be a serious existential or family crisis.
In most cases, anxiety is not the core problem itself, but rather a state that accompanies a whole chain of deeper, unresolved issues and unmet needs.
